How to find the "Spine" of a Rod Blank
Tools needed:
masking tape
pencil
STEP 1
STEP 2
When rod blanks are made in a factory,
they are
made from cloth which is rolled around a mandrel
The overlap of the cloth is thicker and is slightly
stiffer. This is called the “spine” of a rod.
Find the spine by bending
the rod section and rolling
it slowly, you will find a spot where the
rod almost “jumps”. This is the stiffer part or spine.
